The North Central Ohio Soap Box Derby maintains a recycling program for soap box derby racers that may be collecting dust in the basement or garage of a former racer.

Currently, the North Central Ohio Soap Box Derby does have a list of soap box derby racers that could be available.

This offers racers the opportunity to get a soap box derby racer at a reduced price as opposed to paying the cost of a brand new racer.

Keep in mind, depending on the age of cars, that they may have to be brought up to date to conform with the current racing regulations. Most notably will be axles, which have an eight year life span, and floorboards, which now must have the butcher-block style floorboard. Note: After the 2004 racing season, all particle-type floorboards are not permitted.

Also, sponsors who have soap box derby cars, but no drivers for their cars, are asked to contact the North Central Soap Box Derby and attempts will be made to secure drivers.

For additional information, contact derby director Chuck Ridenour by calling 419-347-3565.
